Green Machine Recipe

I’m enjoying some catchup time this week while I’m on holidays. I love being able to tackle all the projects on my to-do list that get pushed aside when my life gets crazy hectic (which is much more often than I’d like) and, at the end of the day, I still had time for a yoga class and, as I did yesterday, a much-needed mani/pedi. One of the things I’ve been wanting to try is the green machine smoothie from Whole Living magazine. The blend boasts dark leafy greens, which foster a more neutral body environment, which is beneficial for functioning enzymes (huh?). In other words, it’s really really really really good for you. In need of a post-long-weekend detox, this was the best way to kick off my holidays!

The Green Machine is pretty potent (not in a bad way though – the sweet pineapple and mango offset the greens and ginger adds a spicy zing!). I felt amazing all day long (like super Amanda) and managed to get out for a 5 km run and do a yoga class! Real-life, non-holiday me is jealous right now – she envies super Amanda. Here’s the recipe from Whole Living.

6 romaine leaves, chopped
4 kale leaves, chopped
1/2 cup fresh parsley sprigs
1/2 cup chopped pineapple
1/2 cup chopped mango
1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and chopped

Please note: I omitted the parsley (it’s the one thing I detest) and used frozen chopped mango.
