Energy Drink Recipe

Who feels like going to the gym after a long day of work? Not me. I’m tired (although I don’t know why. I’ve been sitting – all day long). I’m hungry. And there’s nothing I’d rather do more than relax with some bad reality tv (tonight’s poison is The Bachelor). This smoothie is designed to take those destined-to-be-lazy nights and turn them on their head. Every single ingredient boasts energy boosting power. In fact, coconut water has electrolytes (about 12 times more than some energy/sports drinks). Hemp seeds are an amazing source of protein. Banana has your potassium. And mango has tons of fibre and natural sugars that’ll have you running a marathon on the ‘mill.

I had my glass of energy on the way to work this morning. I stayed full until lunch at around 1. I also couldn’t keep still at my desk. I’ll probably repeat the recipe tomorrow, too, since I’ll be teaching an 8:00 a.m. yoga class at the office.

1 cup frozen mango chunks
1 banana
1 cup coconut water (no pulp, please)
1 tbsp hemp seeds
