Saturday was race day. Harry’s Spring Run-Off is an 8 km race through High Park in support of prostate cancer. I was super excited to participate in this race (my first time) in order to get my legs ready for the season (they take a little break when the temperature drops below zero) and enjoy the beautiful spring we’ve had so far.
In need of my own kick-off on Saturday morning (we had drinks with friends on Friday, which lasted late, and frankly, I wasn’t supposed to have as many glasses of wine as I did. oops). So feeling slightly “off” on Saturday when I woke up at 7:30, I think I discovered my new favourite smoothie (love these kind of discoveries). Since I needed the energy (and hydration), I threw in an extra tablespoon of chia seed and lots of fibre-packed fruit.
I was very lonely without my good friend running Carly alongside me. But I had her beautiful long legs in my head the whole time pushing me to the finish (thanks, C.). I’m proud to say that despite three very deadly hills (I mean like muscle-tensing, feel-like-I’m-going-to-vomit hills), I finished the race in 45 minutes (my goal time, yay!).
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/4 cup fresh strawberries
2 tbsp chia seed
1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
